Florida’s Rosemary Beach Offers Perfect Vacation
Many families in the South go on beach vacations annually. Many try different beaches, but that will all end after a visit to Rosemary Beach, a small community along the famous Highway 30A in Florida known as a vacation spot for families from Southern states such as Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia and Mississippi. People tend to accidentally wander into Rosemary Beach.
When I was in the sixth grade, my mother randomly booked a townhouse in Rosemary for my nearby dance competition. From that week on, we have vacationed in Rosemary Beach every year, often multiple times annually.
The small beach town has a personality incomparable to anywhere else. It features cobblestone roads that give the town an European feel, but is filled with bike paths big enough for an entire extended family bike ride, which creates a warm Southern feel.
The roads are shaded by beautiful trees, and the homes are coordinating and well groomed. Rosemary is family-friendly, inviting and luxurious with something for every age.
A fan favorite is the Rosemary Beach Farmer’s Market. Every week on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., tents are erected selling products and food. This is a fun place for people of any age to get up and get out on a Sunday. There are multiple candy, ice cream, toy, and book shops for young children.
The Sugar Shak is the main place to get a sweet treat on the beach. During most warm months, the line for ice cream continues out the door. There are many restaurants that specialize in wine tasting for adults and restaurants that have age restrictions so adults can have private nights.
The restaurants draw people to Rosemary. La Crema Tapas & Chocolate is a favorite because of its wide menu. Every course at La Crema is decadent. From the Brussels sprouts as an appetizer to empanadas as the main course, and either dark or milk chocolate fondue and half baked cookies for dessert, every guest leaves feeling content. People love to post their fondue with sides including apples, pound cake, marshmallows, strawberries, bananas, and graham crackers.
La Crema Tapas & Chocolate was inspired by the tapas and chocolate shops of Madrid and Barcelona, their website reports. The owners say Rosemary Beach and Barcelona share a similar climate and strategic location next to the sea for fresh food.
Rosemary Beach is a photogenic place in general, so people sharing photos online have led to its fast growth. Real Estate developer Brett Clark said Rosemary is growing. He recently built a small community of homes on the outskirts of Rosemary. “I am continuing to add-on to what I have built,” he said. “Rosemary’s charm lies in the details, so I plan to add a small orchard as well as two pools. . . With the way things are going, Rosemary is only going to get bigger.”
Capitalizing on the community’s growth before others did has been his goal. Outside the home my family purchased is a beautiful box of flowers and rosemary by the front door, so every guest sees it as they walk in the home. Details like this are what make Clark’s homes so inviting.
Throughout the week, there are many events for people to attend, such as a family movie night, nightly concerts, yoga, and church on the beach. This allows families to meet, mingle and meet friends. Time and again, I hear stories of families who met in Rosemary, and continue to visit over the years. Rosemary was built for large numbers, so it is fitting that families often come here and meet their best friends.
While the town of Rosemary has a lot to offer, the beach is also beautiful. The sand is white, and in the summertime, the ocean feels like bathwater. Lifeguards and beach patrol keep the beach safe and in pristine condition so people have the best experience possible.
Overall, Rosemary Beach is something out of a movie. Its magic radiates through every detail and fills the hearts of its guests with joy.
